CREATA is a collective of small artisan groups in Colombia. Global Goods Partners works with three of these groups: Sia’a, Maapülee, and Areket. These women-led groups come from La Guajira in northern Colombia, and live in areas with neither sewage systems nor running water. The artisans in these groups produce hand-made crochet pieces using traditional techniques and natural dyes. Artisans are involved in the design of their products and one artisan elected by each group handles sales. CREATA trains the artisans in design, craft development, and business, so that they may continue to compete in the local and global marketplace.
