Gahaya Links

Gahaya Links

Rwanda

Gahaya Links is a Rwanda-based initiative that provides work for rural women artisans by creating a market for they’re weaving. Thanks to the supplementary income provided, women report they are now able to afford health care, own bank accounts, start local businesses, and access healthy food. Gahaya Links also provides banking and monetary education, including taxation and pricing, using ATMs, investing, and saving. Gahaya Links has played a pivotal role in promoting reconciliation efforts over the years and has helped women address positive living and the stigma around HIV and AIDS. Gayaha Links has been awarded the 2015 Artisan Hero Award by the Alliance for Artisan Enterprise and The Aspen Institute, the 2009 Employer Award from Rwanda Ministry of Labor, and the 2008 Best Corporate Social Responsibility Reward.
